The aim of education is character formation. The cultural environment has a great role to play in the character formation of a child. Our School has proved to be unique in the field of character formation of the young minds. This school has taken many initiatives to help many hungry minds to equip themselves with lot of knowledge and skill in different areas of life through various curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Dance Club is one of the products of such initiatives to impart cultural basis to its students.
DESCRIPTION OF EMBLEM
Different art forms especially dance is a celebration of culture and expression of the free and happy minds. The emblem of the Dance club depicts all the characteristics of this club. The following points will describe the meaning emblem.
1. The Rising Sun: the rising sun points towards an enthusiastic future with the blessing of god who gives light and energy to his creation.
2. The Open Book: the open book and caricature of students on it direct to the horizon of wisdom and knowledge.
3. The Dancers: The caricature of the dancers represent the talented students our school and speaks of the nature of the club that it is for those who love the art of dancing.
4. The Blue Circle: Blue is the colour of the sky and the sea which is often associated with depth and stability to mean that our school invites all its students without any partiality to the depth of ocean of knowledge to be stable in their lives. This school is dedicated to motivate its students to acquire many good qualities such as trust, loyalty, truth and faith which the blue colour denotes.
5. The School Emblem: School emblem denotes that this club unique for the school and it has no separate entity other than the school as it is an indispensable part of the co-curricular activities of the school.
6. The Cross: The cross portrays the Catholic Christian Minority nature of the institution that it is run by the Christian missionaries and it is a certified minority institution. Cross signifies victory through suffering and dedication and it is the real attitude of the club members that they are ever ready to face struggles to be victorious.
7. The Four Colours: The four colours represent the four Houses of the school where the competence of the students is confronted and assessed. The colours symbolize wide verities of dances in different cultures.
AIM
The students will be motivated to develop the hidden talents and skills to be sensitive to appreciate, differentiate and enjoy different dance forms by their rhythmic steps, symphonic body movements and repertoires of choreography through regular practices to be creative versatile performers and persuasive intercultural communicators of the visual art of dance and nature the inductive community through it.
OBJECTIVES
1. The students of the club will be enabled to develop a critical awareness of different dance forms and engage in effective communication.
2. The students of the club will be able to communicate and express themselves naturally through different forms of dance.
3. The students of the club will be encouraged to learn dance by rhythmic steps and symphonic body movements in their own space.
4. The students of the club will be able to make use of the opportunities to express well their interest and skill in dance.
5. The students of the club will be enabled to enjoy and differentiate different dance forms by its repertoire of movements and choreography to appreciate cultural diversity.
6. The students of the club will be made aware of the principles of dance composition: form, space, time, dynamics and movement manipulation.
STRATEGY
Different art forms emerge from the human heart as a unique life expression and celebration of its freedom molded in culture. Dance is a performance art form consisting of purposefully selected sequence of rhythmic human movements which has aesthetic and symbolic value, and is acknowledged as dance within a particular culture. It is the transformation of ordinary functional and expressive movement into extraordinary movement for extraordinary purposes; even a common movement such as walking is performed in dance in a patterned way, perhaps in circles or to a special rhythm, and it occurs in a special context. Dance can be categorized and described by its choreography by its repertoire of movements, or by its historical period or place of origin.
Little Flower School is a family blessed with multitalented and creative students and teachers. The Dance Club commonly known as DC is a unique proposal by our institution to bring out the hidden talents of the students in the field of dace. It is an opening door for the students to encourage each other for the growth of their talents. Therefore likeminded students with special interest and taste in dance have freely joined together to form the group to have special collaborative training and became the members of the club. Teachers interested in choreography have also joined the club as Head of the club (HOC) or Instructors of the club (IOC) to guide the members. In order to make sure the democratic way of the functioning of the Club, leaders of the club (LOC) are elected. Through practical sessions and interactions with resource persons of different cultures the club members will help themselves and others to equip dancing skills.
Sufficient opportunities will be provided through the club to the members to stage and scrutinize the skills.
The club introduces all forms of dance as a fun and enjoyable experience while maintaining its traditional discipline. It will work to build confidence of our pupils and gain a sense of achievement through their learning as well as developing listening and group work skills. Above all the activities of the club intend to develop in all of our pupils an awareness of one’s body and their surrounding space, co-ordination, strength, flexibility and fitness, grace, musicality and freedom of expression.
The club activities are arranged in a way that the members be ever motivated to take keen interest to avail themselves of the opportunities to train them. In short the club works as a dance stage to expert a pull on the members to express themselves and to prove their talents.
ACTIVITIES
1. Selection of students who have special talents and interest in Dance from every class.
2. Training sessions by eminent dance teachers to the members thrice a year.
3. Seminars on various dance categories namely: classical, semi classical, folk and tribal etc to members by experts.
4. Exclusive workshops on various dance forms namely: Kathakali, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi and Sattriya etc to members twice in a year.
5. Regular orientation sessions for the members during zero hour on alternative Wednesdays.
6. Active participation in the functions conducted by the school.
7. Single dance competitions for the members once in two months.
